The boy in the striped pajama
Author: John Boyne

10232 장건

A boy named Bruno, who was the son of the German soldier realized that his family is moving. They moved to a much smaller house called, Out-with. The fact that Bruno didn`t know was they moved near the Death camp and his father`s job was to keep the area in order. Bruno just knew that his father is a very important person and the man called Fury(Hitler) gave him the important job. One day, Bruno met a Jewish boy Shmuel while exploring around the fence of the Death camp. By talking, they realized that they have a same birthday and became friends and meet every day each on the other side of the fence. Bruno sometimes brought some food for Shmuel who was always hungry. what Bruno did not know was that his friend is living in the Death camp, not in the nice place like he is expecting. They became very close. Bruno who was very unhappy and lonely after leaving his friends in Berlin, finally got something to wait for and Shmuel too, now found a pleasure in his life. At the end, Bruno`s mom was so worried about the health and future of the children so she decided to go back to Berlin with her two kids. When Bruno heard this news he went to his friend Shmuel to say good-bye. Shmuel was very upset because his father disappeared some time ago, and now his friend was leaving. To spend a meaningful last time, they thought of an idea. They decided to search of Shmuel`s father with Bruno, wearing a stripped pajama as if he is one of the prisoners. But unfortunately, when they arrived they were forced to march to the gas room where Nazis killed many Jews, including Shmuel`s father. And they died together, holding hands. While reading the book, the purity of the two children seemed to make the book even more miserable. After reading this, I wish the cruelty of adults hadn't hurt the innocence of children.
